MCBC CAMPING SCHEDULE
The
MCBC monthly camping trips for May through October are set,
scheduled for Sunday to Friday except September and October, which
are Monday to Friday. At least 3 to 4 days of rides or other
activities are planned for each event with rides of 25 to 50 miles.
Canoeing, kayaking and hiking are often available, as well as
cultural events and shopping. It is important that you reserve as
soon as possible to be included in the MCBC group area.
Contact the hosts for the trip to get more information and
to let them know you are planning to come. Maps, cue sheets, pot
luck and final details are usually only provided to those who plan
to attend via e-mail. Non-camping
and non-riding members are encouraged to join in on the trips at
nearby motels, which can be found on the internet or from the hosts.
Web sites for each campground have additional information and
directions. Nearly three dozen members participated last year, so
don’t miss the good times, great food and beautiful scenery.

Club Riding Tips
Here are some tips for making each ride a safe and fun
experience.
-
Know where the ride starts the day before. If in doubt, call the contact
person for directions. Plan to arrive 15 minutes before the ride
starts in order to unload your bike, pump the tires, get ready to roll. The ride leaves at the time listed.
If we KNOW you are coming, we will, as a courtesy, wait 5 minutes. Maps + sign
up sheet will
usually be left on a member’s car window.
-
Bring a helmet, filled water bottle, spare tube, lock, snack, money and a
light jacket. Weather may alter the course of a ride, particularly in March and
April. Be prepared!
-
Know your riding ability and speed. In spring, we’re all getting back in
shape and are a bit rusty so the pace might be slower. Later though, those who
consistently ride 3-4 times per week become really strong. They will take off
and ride at the head of the pack. If you are a slower rider, plan to bring a
friend to ride with you. The ride leader will most likely be in the middle. We
do usually meet during or after the ride to eat together - why ride if you can't
eat??
-
For your riding reference, please note the pace rating system below. Most
of our members will be riding a moderate pace by May. Where do you fit?
Slow paced = 8 - 10 mph
Moderate = 12 - 14 mph
Faster = 16 - 20 mph
